Guidance for Dec. 18-22

Dear PPS Families,

Thank you for your patience as we continue to reestablish the routines and adjust our schedules. Over the last week, I have touched base with various members of our community and heard so many stories of our students jumping back into their learning with excitement, curiosity, and joy.

As we shared last week, our 11 make-up instructional days will include the first five days of winter break – Monday, Dec. 18 through Friday, Dec. 22. We know that families have previously scheduled plans on those days which may be impossible to break, and we sincerely wish there were other options to make up the lost time with full instructional days. Since there is not, we want to offer some guidance if you are unable to adjust your prior commitments on those days.

First, we would encourage you to connect with your student’s teacher(s) to alert them to the absence. As with any anticipated absence, we would also encourage you to ask about content that will be covered and any assignments your student can complete.

Any absence will be excused, although we do ask that you report them in advance through ParentVue.  After logging in, please click the icon for “Attendance,” and then the blue box titled “Report Absence” on the right of your screen. Please identify the dates your student will be gone and select “vacation” from the drop-down menu.

This “vacation” option will only be available for the month of December.

Thank you for reporting these absences so that our educators and school leaders can plan accordingly.

Sincerely,

Dr. Cheryl Proctor
