Want to be a part of the climate solution?
Dear PPS students,

PPS has 2 important climate/sustainability engagement opportunities coming up for students, teachers, and families, and we would love for as many students to participate as possible:

1) Join the Climate Justice Youth Advisory (CJYA) by Feb. 14!

The CJYA is a space for student climate leadership. This might look like more career support pathways, voice at district leadership, district support for clubs, school projects, and more!

As a CJYA member, you will get to have direct involvement with district leadership and decision making around PPS’ Climate Crisis Response Policy. Advisory students will meet every other Wednesday from 5-6 PM, at the Prophet Education Center (501 N. Dixon) starting Feb. 14.

CJYA  students will gain experience with organizing a large-scale event, the Spring Climate Summit at the end of May. Students will provide input on potential speakers and an overall theme for the Summit that resonates with them as well as their classmates.

If you are interested in joining, please fill out this form

2) PPS decarbonization roadmap: community listening sessions

PPS is asking for input from students, teachers, and community members about how to build a long-range plan to lower carbon emissions in our district. Decarbonizing the district will improve community health and comfort, resiliency, and student learning outcomes while lowering operating costs and reducing our carbon footprint.

The question we want help answering is: “How can PPS most effectively implement GHG emissions reduction measures to give us the best chance of meeting our emissions goals, given financial, industry, and facility constraints, while considering historic inequities in the distribution of resources across PPS?”

Check out the decarbonization meeting flier to learn more about the input sessions including dates, locations, and times. Come with friends, teachers, or parents! And please click here to sign up for an in-person or virtual meeting. You can also choose to provide written feedback through this online survey.
