George Middle School has been using Trivory for five years, and Principal Whitney couldn’t be happier with how it has transformed communication on campus. “I am so impressed with Trivory and the ease with which I can get information out to my community,” she shared. “So many school communication tools look good on the consumer end but are a nightmare to navigate and update. The Trivory Dashboard is just as easy and elegant to navigate as the application.” We sat down with Principal Whitney to learn how her team makes Trivory work so well, and what tips she has for other middle schools considering the platform.
One of the biggest keys to success has been how George advertises Trivory to parents and families. “They love knowing that this app was designed by a student for students and that they will use this all the way through high school,” said Whitney. To build excitement and boost awareness, her team uses Trivory’s print-ready flyers. “We include Trivory’s promo materials in our first day packets and our student planners,” she explained. This not only gives families a tangible reminder to install and use the app but also highlights its student-focused story.
Another big plus is the ability to view multiple schools in a single app—a feature that parents find invaluable. Whitney, who is also a parent in the Roosevelt High School feeder system, said, “I show them how easy it is to go back and forth and track high school events.” This multi-campus functionality, combined with integrated calendars like OSAA, ensures families stay informed of events at both the middle school and high school. As Whitney put it, “It’s a point of pride for our community.”
When it comes to day-to-day management, Principal Whitney’s approach is to empower her staff by giving them direct posting access. “I have also included many adults on our team so that they can post directly to Trivory—our admin team, SUN manager, our school librarian, our PTA president, leadership teacher, and principal’s secretary,” she noted. “I think once any school gets into it and realizes how user-friendly and intuitive the dashboard is that they will love it. It gives those folks in charge of events and meetings agency to make changes and communicate directly, and it spreads the workload.” One tactic they’ve used to drive engagement is a regular “Mustang Monday” post highlighting the lunch menu and upcoming events, which Whitney said “really increased our engagement.”
Looking ahead, George plans to further enhance their Trivory strategy by incorporating more visuals and videos. “I am looking forward to diving more into Canva to create branded materials and get ahead of the communication with scheduled Trivory posts,” Whitney said. “One of our goals for next year is to also increase video content to push out through Trivory. Our leadership students often create videos that go out in Advisory classes, but we want to include them on Trivory as well so that parents can see what our kids are doing.” George Middle School’s experience exemplifies how Trivory can be adapted by any school to foster more effective communication and a stronger sense of community.
